About

The world of recruitment today for college football recruits and players has become quite challenging to navigate not just for players, but also their parents, coaches, administrators, the list goes on. Two big drivers for this predicament which most would concede has created absolute chaos in this new recruiting environment are both the transfer portal and the NIL (Name, Image, Likeness), in which a player can now earn money and profit through his name. And now athletes are also allowed to monetize their brand through endorsements. While there are two sides to argue as to whether these new rules have helped or hindered college football there is really no argument as to how the general situation has become the wild west for everyone.

Mike Elko, the new coach at Texas AM in describing the off season challenges with the portal said recently, “It’s literally open free agency for all of college football” Elko went on to say in speaking with reporters, “We’re probably about 13 days (about 2 weeks) away from complete anarchy and the Wild West.” Coach Elko is right, it has become extremely challenging for coaches but in a unique way now it has also created a new set of hurdles and landmines for players to navigate and overcome. And as the lightning-fast paced reality of recruitment presses on there are many players not well equipped with both the knowledge and understanding of what their actual status is in the eyes of Head Coaches as either a High School recruit looking to get offers, or players in programs looking to hop in the transfer. This new chaos and confusion may not be good for programs and their respective coaching staff, it is certainly also making things difficult for players and their families to make life altering decisions which will potentially impact a young person life for years to come.

Without many places to go for answers, the idea of creating a place where players and families can go to get not all the answers but certainly many in dealing with these new challenges is the reason MikeVick7.us was created. Michael Vick is known as a sports celebrity and obviously one of the greatest players to ever play the game, but he is also hoping this website will be place that provides meaningful advice and guidance to young people and their families in helping them thru this ever changing and difficult process.
